What these terms mean
- Current EPA status
- Whether EPA currently lists any unresolved violation for this water system. A resolved past event does not count as a current violation.
- Health-based violation
- A contaminant limit, disinfectant limit, or required treatment step was not met. It does not mean this tap was tested.
- Treatment-technique violation
- The system missed a required treatment step or operating condition — not a measured contaminant exceedance.
- Monitoring / reporting
- Required testing or paperwork was late or missing. That is not automatically a health exceedance.
- 90th percentile
- 90% of sampled taps were at or below the reported lead or copper level. System-wide, not this house.
- PFAS / ppt
- Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (“forever chemicals”), in parts per trillion. NJ limits: PFOA 14, PFOS 13, PFNA 13 ppt. 2024 federal limits: PFOA/PFOS 4 ppt, PFHxS/PFNA/GenX 10 ppt (utilities must comply by 2029–31). UCMR5 is EPA’s 2023–25 national testing program.
